A Rare and Spectacular Antique (ca. 1880s) Calling Card Case.

Solid silver. Hallmarked with Chinese Export and silversmith marks on the
underside; "KHC" for Khecheong of Canton.

Elaborately ornamented with exceptionally embossed details of a village scene
depicting traditional Chinese architectural elements, figures in stages of work
and leisure, and intricate foliate designs. The sides are accented with bands
of foliate motifs. Period monogrammed in an oval cartouche on the top of the
lid, and an engraved dedication on the underside. The fitted lid reveals a
compartment for storing calling cards with a ornamented lip.

A rare, and beautiful statement piece of exceptional quality.

Size: approximately 3.5 inches long and just over 2.25 inches wide.

Weight: 62g

Condition: very fine. The case has no damage or signs of repair. There is one
minor ding in the bottom left corner. The lid secures firmly and stays in
place. Lightly tarnished.
