Hand made leather wallet with 2 internal pockets, and one on the outside that
easily accommodate up to 10 cards and some bank notes.

DESIGN:
Using veg tan leather that has been hand painted to a unique design and brown
yak leather. This leather wallet soft but very strong, and is hand sewn with
saddle stitch in blue waxed thread.

MANUFACTURE:

I hand make all items from my workspace at home (kitchen) , so have no rooms
for machines. For stitching I use strong waxed thread for a tougher finish. The
method used is saddle stitching which uses two dual needles / thread
simultaneously. This creates the strongest bond, reducing the chance of the
thread breaking and unravelling.

What is Veg Tan Leather?

Vegetable Tanned Leather is my preferred leather because, despite the
increased cost to buy, it is a beautiful material to work with. Only natural
materials such as fruits, leaves, and husks are used to dye the leather, after
which, each hide is hung for several weeks. This is compared to the globally
dominant method of Chromium tanning, which reduces the process to a few days.
Whilst certainly time-effective, it is important to me to try to avoid using
chrome-tanned leather as the vast use of acidic chemicals in this process is
very harmful to the environment, our waterways and oceans. These are things I
strongly feel we need to protect, now more than ever.

Yak leather can be described as ‘primordially powerful’ and with
characteristics evolved from the tough life at 4,000m above sea level. Yak hide
has exceptional tensile strength – like the kangaroo but more useful as it is
thicker.
